I could probably write a book about all the tools and resources I’ve tried over the last 10 years or so as a creative business owner. Running a business means constantly experimenting with new technologies, apps, and software. Nowadays, there are so many great resources available at the touch (or click) of a button.
Below I have listed some of my tried-and-true favorites. These are things I use regularly in my own business to help productivity and ensure my processes run smoothly. Even better, most of them are 100% free! Some have features or options available for purchase, but I have found them to be worth every penny.
Note that some of the links below are affiliate links. So, if you’re thinking about adding some new resources to your creative toolbox, please click and shop through the links below so that I can earn a small commission on anything you decide to purchase. Give them a try, let me know what you think, and feel free to share some of your own favorites too!

Adobe Creative Cloud
Adobe is the industry standard when it comes to design software and in my creative business, they are a staple. From Photoshop to InDesign, there is really no substitution if you’re looking to edit photos, design vector art, or create professional page layouts. With desktop and mobile options available, you can work from practically anywhere. For a limited time, you can purchase an individual Adobe Cloud Subscription with access to all apps for just $29.99/month USD (regularly $52.99 USD).

MailChimp
There are a lot of email marketing tools out there, but MailChimp continues to be one of my favorites because it offers all-in-one marketing solutions and a free plan for businesses with less than 2,000 contacts. If you’re just starting out or growing your newsletter list, it’s the perfect way to get familiar with marketing basics. You can create custom e-mail templates, welcome sequences, and even add a pop-up signup form to your website to grow your audience.

Unsplash
Unsplash is quickly becoming one of the most popular options for stock photography today. It’s no wonder, because their high-resolution images are absolutely beautiful and generously provided from creators around the world. With over 15 categories ranging from editorial to food and drink, there is really something for every industry. Use stock photos to elevate your next creative project or spruce up your social media channel. Best of all, they’re completely free to use for commercial and noncommercial purposes.

Google Fonts
I am obsessed with fonts, and constantly searching for the perfect typefaces for my creative projects. Whether you’re a designer or not, fonts are an important part of our day-to-day life. Even as you’re reading this now. They are used in almost everything we see, buy, or use in our daily routine. Google Fonts is a great place to source free and open source type for your next personal or client project. Simply select a font, import, or download and install. With over 900 font options available in 5 categories, you are sure to find something you will love.
